There Is An Alternative

Many people who have been diagnosed with cancer are interested in alternative therapies. Traditional therapies such as chemotherapy, surgery and radiology often do not offer patients as much hope as they would like. For this reason, more patients are turning to alternative therapies to address some of their cancer needs. Many patients are turning to alternative therapies to combat the side effects of traditional therapies. For example, patients undergoing chemotherapy often suffer from repeated bouts of vomiting.  Alternative herbal therapy is offering some patients a degree of relief from this troubling side effect. Other alternative therapies are available to address possible side effects as well.

Additionally, there are a wide variety of alternative therapies that have been developed to treat cancer. Some of these are based on eastern medical philosophy while others are based on as yet unproven medical research. Advances in immune therapy, herbal therapy, gene therapy and other exciting fields of cancer research are offering help to thousands of cancer patients.

While alternative therapies may offer a patient additional help during a particularly troubling time, it is important to remember that each alternative therapy must be carefully considered and discussed with a physician. Failing to do so will decrease the likelihood any treatment option chosen will offer the patient recovery.

Alternative therapies are likely to continue to grow in popularity as further research is made into the area. We are likely to see an improvement in the rate of overall alternative therapy used to treat cancer or the side effects of traditional cancer treatment.
