The chances of your child acquiring cancer are 1 in 300. However, as a parent, you can never be too careful when the health of your baby is concerned. For that reason, be sure to get regular checkups and administer vaccines at appropriate times in your baby’s life. For a baby who might be a victim of cancer, the symptoms mentioned below will be observed often. Though they may be confused with symptoms of the common cold or any other commonly occurring child illness, insist on thorough check ups till you get a firm diagnosis.

A child with leukemia will show irritability and will be tired often. He will not have the strength to play or do things he loved before. He may also complain of pain in his abdomen and his joints. He may suffer from nose bleeds and may be required to start wearing glasses. If you see any of these symptoms in your child for a prolonged period of time, for no appropriate reason, be sure to get him checked well.
Initially, a blood test may suffice to rule out cancerous growth or any signs of leukemia in the body. However, you must proceed with relevant tests related to leukemia if your child’s blood report consists of low red blood and white blood cells, an unusual increase in lymphocytes and decreased platelet count.

It is absolutely essential that you do so because if leukemia is not detected in its early stages, it can run far and wide in the body. This will result in the cancer spreading throughout the body, damaging several organs and eventually making the body too weak to survive without external assistance.
However, if it is checked, diagnosed and treated at an early stage, the cancer can be cured completely. Your baby can then live a happy and comfortable life.
